This year, we’re opening the door for YOU to shape the awards. Instead of only fitting nominations into pre-set categories, we want to hear who you believe deserves recognition—whether that’s an outstanding individual, an inspiring organization, or a business making a difference in Harlan County. When you nominate, simply tell us who they are and explain what kind of award you think they should receive.

 

To help guide your nominations, here are some of the types of awards we’ve given out in the past:

 

• Business of the Year – recognizing an established business that demonstrates excellence, growth, and community impact.

• Non-Profit of the Year – celebrating organizations dedicated to serving and strengthening Harlan County.

• Entrepreneur of the Year – honoring individuals who bring vision, innovation, and new ideas to life.

• Community Development Award – spotlighting projects or organizations that drive progress and pride in our region.

• Volunteer of the Year – recognizing those who go above and beyond to serve others.

• Educator of the Year – honoring outstanding commitment to students and lifelong learning.

• Healthcare Provider of the Year – recognizing exceptional care and compassion in the medical field.

• Customer Service Excellence Award – highlighting individuals or teams who set the bar for service.

• Lifetime Achievement Award – honoring decades of dedication and service to Harlan County.

 

In addition, the Chamber will continue to present four standing awards each year:

• Harlan County Business of the Year

• The Brandon Robinson Award (celebrating leadership, positivity, and community spirit)

• Harlan Countian of the Year 

• Lawson-Hoskins Dedication Award

 

We encourage you to think creatively, reflect on the people and organizations shaping our community, and submit nominations that capture their unique contributions. Nominations must have a minimum of 200 words to be considered.
